How the AI tutor plans every lesson
Kiddo Tutor works like a private tutor: it finds where your child is, plans the lessons that come next, teaches each one, and explains every mistake kindly. Here is what it does, and what it never does.

1. A short first test
About twenty questions, with no marks and no help, set around the child's school year: some a year below, most at it, some a year above. The youngest are asked fewer, and Years 1 and 2 have every question read to them. The answers place each subject at its own level, so a child strong at maths and newer to English starts each where they are.
2. A plan of twenty lessons
The AI tutor chooses twenty lessons from the ones that make sense next: the next steps in each subject, anything the test showed was shaky, and topics worth looking back at. It shares them between subjects for the child's year and spirals through topics, so place value comes back a step harder after the other topics have had a turn. Notes from a grown-up shape the plan too.
3. Each lesson, then three levels of practice
A lesson explains the idea, shows where it comes up in everyday life, works an example step by step and tries some together. Then come three levels of exercises, Learn, Practise and Tricky, from easy to tricky, with stars to win. Two stars open the next level.
4. Every mistake explained
A wrong answer never gets a red cross. The tutor says what slipped, in the companion's own voice, and shows the working beside what the child put. In practice a hint can be asked for, with no timer.
5. A check-in, then the next plan
When the twenty lessons are done, a short check-in looks at the weakest ones and peeks ahead. The next plan is made from it, and a subject going well moves up a year. After four weeks away, a fresh test finds where the child is now.
What the AI never does
- It never marks an answer. Every question is made and checked by the app's own code.
- It never decides what is right: lessons are written and checked ahead of time, and the AI only rewords them and explains a slip the code has already found.
- It never chats with a child.
Questions parents ask
Does the AI mark my child's answers?
No. Every question is made and checked by Kiddo Tutor's own code, and every wrong option is tied to a known slip. The AI only chooses lessons from what code offers it and words the explanation of a mistake, so a child is never told an answer is wrong when it is right.
How does the tutor know what my child needs?
A short first test of about twenty questions finds where a child is in each subject. The tutor then plans twenty lessons from those answers and the grown-up's notes, checks in when they are done, and plans again from what the check-in showed.
Can I tell the tutor what my child needs to work on?
Yes. Notes for the tutor, written on the grown-ups' page, shape every test and plan: for example more times tables, or starting maths a year ahead of English.
Does it work without the internet?
In the iPhone and iPad app, lessons work without a signal: the tutor runs on the device and saves progress when it is back online. The tutor's voice and its own wording need a connection, and the written words are used without one.
