Kiddo Tutor is an app, for iPhone and iPad and on the web at app.kiddotutor.com, with this website, that helps children aged about 5 to 11 learn maths, English, reasoning and coding. This notice explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, who helps us, and what you can do about it. It is written for parents and guardians: a grown-up makes each child's account.
Who we are
Kiddo Tutor is a trading name of Romisoft Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17412722, with its registered office at Suite RA01, 195–197 Wood Street, London E17 3NU. Romisoft Ltd is responsible for the information described here (the "data controller"). You can reach us at [email protected], and a person will answer.
What we keep
- The account. A nickname (we ask you not to use a real name in the username), the month and year of birth (to choose the school year), a username and password (the password is stored only in scrambled form), the companion your child chose, their settings, and the notes you write for the tutor, if you write any.
- Your email address, as the account's grown-up contact: to confirm the account, and to send a code if a password or the grown-ups' PIN is forgotten. We do not send marketing.
- The grown-ups' PIN, stored only in scrambled form, and when you agreed to this notice and the online helpers.
- Learning records: the answers your child gives, their tests, lesson plans, stars, coins, stickers, and the home they decorate. This is how the tutor plans what comes next and how you see their progress.
- Homework photos, only if you use homework help (part of Plus): the photo and the help given. Photos that are not schoolwork, are unreadable or show a person are deleted straight away.
- Purchases. If you buy Plus in the iPhone or iPad app, Apple tells us what was bought and when, and Apple takes the payment. If you buy Plus on the web, Stripe takes the payment and tells us what was bought, when and for how much, and we keep the customer number Stripe gives you. We never see card details.
- Reports: if a grown-up reports a question as faulty, the question as it was shown and the reason chosen.
What we do not keep
- No real names, full dates of birth, addresses, location, contacts or photos of your child.
- No recordings: the app never uses the microphone. The tutor speaks; it does not listen.
- No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or tracking. We never sell or rent information.
- What your child jots on the scratch pad is never stored or sent.
On the web
When you sign in to Kiddo Tutor on the web, at app.kiddotutor.com, your browser keeps you signed in, and keeps the child's lessons and the companion's spoken lines, in its own storage on your computer, until you sign out and remove the account, or clear the browser's data. It also sets one small cookie on kiddotutor.com that says only that someone is signed in, so this website can show Open the app rather than Log in. These are needed for it to work, so we do not ask about them. We set no other cookies and load nothing from advertisers or analytics companies. When you pay on the web, Stripe's payment page uses its own cookies to prevent fraud.
This website, and the web app's welcome, sign-in and sign-up pages, count their own visits so we know how people find us: which page was opened, where the visit came from (a search engine, another site, or the campaign named in a link), the country, and whether it was a phone, tablet or computer. We keep only totals for each day, with no cookies and nothing that tells one visitor from another, and no analytics company is involved. Nothing inside a child's part of the app is counted this way.
Reminders and the weekly email
On an iPhone or iPad, the app can show the child one reminder a day, on days they have not done a lesson yet, around the time they usually learn. It is worked out and scheduled on the device itself, and nothing about it is sent to us or anyone else. The device asks first, and it can be switched off on the app's Settings page.
Every Monday we email the grown-up's address, once it is confirmed, a summary of the account's week: time spent, lessons, questions answered by subject and topics finished. It names the account's username, never the child, and has no advertising in it. It can be switched off on the grown-ups' page in the app.
The online helpers
Two optional helpers make the tutor feel alive. You agree to them when you make the account, and either can be switched off at any time in the app under Settings, For grown-ups. With both off, every lesson still works, using the words we wrote and the device's own voice.
- The tutor's voice is made by ElevenLabs, or by Microsoft's Azure speech service when ElevenLabs cannot. Each line the tutor says is sent to be turned into audio; a line can include your child's nickname.
- The tutor's own words, lesson plans and homework help come from Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. Claude is sent the lesson with your child's nickname and age, the notes you write for the tutor, how your child did in their tests and lessons, the answers they get wrong, and for homework help, the photo. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not train its models on what is sent through its service.
The AI never decides whether an answer is right. Questions are made and marked by our own code; the AI only words the explanations, plans the order of lessons from our list, and helps with homework photos.

Each works for us under a contract and may use the information only to provide its service to us. Where information goes outside the UK, it goes with the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
Why we use it
- To provide the app and website you asked for: the account, lessons, plans, progress and Plus.
- With your consent, for the online helpers described above.
- To keep the service safe and fair: limits on how often the helpers are used, and stopping misuse.
- To keep the records of payments the law asks a business to keep.
How long we keep it
- The account and its learning records: until the account is deleted.
- Homework photos and the help given: 30 days.
- Spoken lines that include your child's nickname: 30 days after they were last played, or until the account is deleted, whichever is sooner.
- Codes sent by email: they work once, for 15 minutes.
- Records of purchases: kept after an account is deleted, without the account, as financial records.
- On the device: learning records are also kept on the phone or tablet, so lessons work without a signal, until the account is removed from the device or the app is deleted.
Deleting the account
In the app, go to Settings, then For grown-ups (behind the grown-ups' PIN), and choose Delete account. Everything about the child is deleted from our systems straight away: the profile, learning records, homework photos and spoken lines with their nickname. Plus bought on the web is cancelled with it. Plus bought in the iPhone or iPad app is Apple's, and deleting the account does not cancel it: cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about your child, to correct it, to delete it, or to have a copy. You can take back your consent to the online helpers at any time by switching them off. Email [email protected] and we will answer within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Keeping it safe
Information is sent encrypted, each account can read only its own records, passwords and PINs are stored scrambled, and only our team can reach the tool for helping with an account, behind its own sign-in.
Changes
If we change what we keep or who helps us, we will update this page and its date, and ask again in the app where the law requires it.
