Maths and English, from Year 1 to Year 6
Kiddo Tutor teaches the National Curriculum for England in maths and English, a year at a time, at the level each child is ready for. Every lesson is written for the child, not the teacher, and every question is checked by the app itself.

Maths
Every strand of the curriculum, Year 1 to Year 6: place value, addition and subtraction, times tables and division, fractions, decimals and percentages, measurement (length, mass, capacity, money and time), shape, position and angles, statistics, and in Year 6 ratio and the order of operations. Pictures do the explaining where they help: number lines, bar models, arrays, base-ten blocks and coins. Times tables are practised until they are quick, not just right.
English
- Spelling: the statutory word lists and each year's spelling rules.
- Grammar and punctuation: word classes, tenses, sentence types, commas, apostrophes, speech marks, fronted adverbials and the terms Year 6 is tested on.
- Reading comprehension: more than a hundred passages of stories, non-fiction and poetry written for the app, with questions on finding, inferring, summarising and the writer's choices. Year 1 passages are read aloud.
At their level, a step at a time
A short first test places maths and English each where the child is. Lessons come in a spiral: each topic takes its next step in turn, so it comes back a little harder after the others have had theirs. Each lesson has three levels of practice, from easy to tricky, and the tutor goes back a step when a topic keeps going badly. How the AI tutor plans.
Questions parents ask
Does Kiddo Tutor follow the National Curriculum?
Yes. Maths and English follow the National Curriculum for England, year by year from Year 1 to Year 6, covering Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
What if my child is ahead of or behind their school year?
The first test places maths and English each at its own level, and a grown-up can set either a year up or down. Nothing stops a child going further: when a year's lessons are done, the plan carries on into the next year's.
Can a Year 1 child use it on their own?
Yes. In Years 1 and 2 every question is read aloud by the companion, and a child answers by tapping. The lessons are short and the words are ones they have met.
Does it help with the KS2 SATs?
It teaches the Key Stage 2 maths and English curriculum that the SATs are based on, including times tables, fractions, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and reading comprehension. It has no SATs papers, but its maths practice papers, one for each year from Year 1 to Year 6, start with quick sums like the arithmetic paper and end with word problems.
